The governance of nonprofit organizations across the country is receiving increased scrutiny from a variety of sources — Congress, the Internal Revenue Service, State Attorneys General, and even local media and watchdog groups. Policies and procedures that once remained behind closed doors are now available for public review and comment.

It is imperative to the future success of the social sector that its leaders demonstrate to the public that they are good stewards of the public trust and worthy of continued exemption from taxes.

“We need to make nonprofit operations more transparent and improve nonprofit governance. Among all charities, of those that have failed their mission, I’ve found that poor board governance unites them all. A vigilant and committed board is key to making sure that charities stay focused on the goals that encourage people to give.”

— Senator Charles Grassley

This workshop is designed to educate nonprofit leaders, both paid staff and board leaders, about the best practices in corporate governance as well as the real-world pitfalls that often degrade the performance of organizational boards.

Attendees will hear the thoughts of experienced professionals in nonprofit governance and will leave this workshop with the knowledge and tools necessary to make their organization a leader in the area of corporate governance.

A MUST FOR CONSCIENTIOUS NONPROFIT LEADERS!
